Hi everyone,
I am new to psytoolkit. I am conducting a visual search experiment that will have 0, 1, or 2 targets on each trial. On any given trial, there will be up to two things the participant has to "find" in a visual display. When they are done finding targets, they should be able to click on an exit "button" (kind of like the exit icon on the mouse click demo I found here: www.psytoolkit.org/lessons/choose.html). Participants should be able to exit at any time. In other words, if there were actually 2 targets on the trial and the participant thinks there's only one, they should be able to exit (and I'd know they missed one). Or they should be able to exit without finding any on a trial with just one target. The participant doesn't know in advance whether there will be 0, 1, or 2. Otherwise, they will be clicking on the exact location of the target if they do find one (or two). I think I have a good handle from the mouse click demo about how to collect click coordinates and assess whether the participant clicked on the correct location for a target. However, I don't know how to allow the participant to essentially terminate a trial by clicking on a particular location, even if the trial might have expected up to two clicks to target locations. Do you have any advice on how to do this? If the answer is "run the task 3 times" (which is what happens for the mouseclick demo), will it still be possible to move on to the next group of three trials if someone clicks at the exit/terminate location? I don't want them to have to click the exit button three times. Thanks!
