I am new here, and am still trying to understand PsyToolkit through videos and documentations. Has anybody replicated a subliminal priming experiment, similar to Marcel (1983)?
He first established the threshold of visual perception for each participant, and then used it for deciding the stimulus onset asynchrony between word and mask (SOA). For instance, if the participant difficulty identifying a word presented for less than 100 ms, then Marcel used the SOA ranging between 80ms and 105ms. There were 6 SOAs differing by 5ms each.
I assume that you must get the participants to do a task where the threshold is identified, and then, do the main priming task after modifying the SOAs in the program...
I could not find any sample of priming experiment with backword masking, so I guess I must programs it from scratch. Any suggestion for starting point would be appreciated.
