Hi,
for data collected by an experiment embedded in a survey, is there a way to "flush" the data to an output file after every trial rather than having to complete the whole experiment before the data are saved?
Background: I had some students beta test an experiment embedded in a survey, which mistakenly used a progress indicator with he wrong number of trials (224 instead of 236). They thought the experiment didn't finish when it should and used the back button. Apparently, none of the data lines were saved. Stupid me, but I still feel sorry for the beta testers, and besides I can't use the data for calibration of some stimulus parameters.
Best, Jochen
PS: Thanks for introducing strings and arrays, nice!

No, that is not possible. During the experiment, the data are stored on the participant's computer. Only by finishing the experiment, the data will be transferred to the PsyToolkit server. Pressing the "back button" is, in essence, the same as leaving the page, and all associated data will be deleted, there is not easy way around it.

Thanks for the explanation! Pity, but at least I can explain it to the participants. I also wonder why they do this despite a clear notification to press the space bar to end the experiment…

I'm doing a study where the stimulus is a video and then there is an experiment where I want to test the number of correct trials before the participants give up. The hypothesis is that after the stimulus is applied, participants will make more attempts before they give up. It is also for this that I would need to give users the ability to stop the experiment at any time and record the number of trials. Is there any method to do this? I realize that the file is saved when the experiment ends but maybe there is a method to get around this? Thank you in advance for your help. EDIT: Could this be done by asking a question (if statment) and with a specific answer applying "end experiment"?
