Hi All:
I think this might be a feature request, but maybe some of you have figured out how to do this.
I want (actually need, per ethics) to allow my participants to not answer any questions they do not want to answer. Where I am having trouble with this is in the RANGE type questions on surveys. As it is now, if a participant does not move the slider, the line stays gray, but the data file records a minimum value response (zero in my case). If they move the slider, the line turns green.
What I would like is that if the participant does not move the slider, it would record a blank response (missing data) in the data file rather than zero. This allows me to not analyze it as a zero response
Can we do this or make it a feature in a future version?
Thanks - Dana This is my code for a Feeling Thermometer measure of prejudice:
l: FT t: range o: free q: Please indicate your feeling toward each of the racial/ethnic groups below, as a number of degrees along a thermometer of feeling, from cold to warm (0 being very cold feeling and 100 being very warm feeling): - {min=0, max=100, left=Very Cold, right=Very Warm} My feeling toward American Indians or Alaska Natives: - {min=0, max=100, left=Very Cold, right=Very Warm} My feeling toward Asians: - {min=0, max=100, left=Very Cold, right=Very Warm} My feeling toward Blacks or African Americans: - {min=0, max=100, left=Very Cold, right=Very Warm} My feeling toward Native Hawaiians or Other Pacific Islanders: - {min=0, max=100, left=Very Cold, right=Very Warm} My feeling toward Whites: - {min=0, max=100, left=Very Cold, right=Very Warm} My feeling toward Hispanics or Latinos:

I fully agree with the usability of this feature request. It would be idea to have the option of a NA score, just as is already the case for the "scale" question.
This is an important feature and will thus be implemented in the upcoming version.
In the meantime, you can use scale (but of course you would need to use something like a 5 or 7-point Likert scale).
scale: test - Very cold - Cold
- Neutral - Warm
- Very warm
l: FT t: scale test o: free q: Please indicate your feeling toward each of the racial/ethnic groups below, as a number of degrees along a thermometer of feeling, from cold to warm (0 being very cold feeling and 100 being very warm feeling): - My feeling toward American Indians or Alaska Natives: - My feeling toward Asians: - My feeling toward Blacks or African Americans: - My feeling toward Native Hawaiians or Other Pacific Islanders: - My feeling toward Whites: - My feeling toward Hispanics or Latinos:
