Is it possible to put text over Bitmaps? What I am trying to do is have the buttons and what they symbolize for the task show up on the screen throughout the entire experiment. For my experiment that would mean saying "B is Happy" and "M is Fear" when identifying what emotion the face on the screen is displaying. Personally, I am not super concerned about this, but my professor thinks that people will forget which button is what throughout the task despite the directions before the task stating what to press for what answer.

Perhaps, instead of text, you could create images of the texts. And then you could present the 3 images together. On how to present multiple images in a single trial you may find the info in this link useful www.psytoolkit.org/lessons/select_bitmap.html

I also tried using the draw on and draw off function and this did not work. I am currently trying to use the draw on and draw off function for a bitmap that contains the text I want to display, but that is not working either. Here is what I have tried for the draw on and off script for the bitmap of the text. bitmaps a1501 a1502 a1503 a1504 a1505 a1506 a1507 a1508 a1509 a1510 a1511 a1512 a1513 a1514 a1515 FearandHappy
table happyfearcondition "f7h3 BM 1501" a1501 1 "f7h3 BM 1502" a1502 1 "f7h3 BM 1503" a1503 1 "f7h3 BM 1504" a1504 1 "f7h3 BM 1505" a1505 1 "f7h3 BM 1506" a1506 1 "f7h3 BM 1507" a1507 1 "f7h3 BM 1508" a1508 1 "f7h3 BM 1509" a1509 1 "f7h3 BM 1510" a1510 1 "f7h3 BM 1511" a1511 1 "f7h3 BM 1512" a1512 1 "f7h3 BM 1513" a1513 1 "f7h3 BM 1514" a1514 1 "f7h3 BM 1515" a1515 1 "fearandhappy" FearandHappy 1 task happyfearcondition table happyfearcondition keys b m draw off show bitmap FearandHappy 0 200 show bitmap a1501 draw on readkey 1 1100 delay 1000 clear 3 delay 200 save @1 STATUS RT BLOCKNAME KEY

I did try this, but it is not working for me. Could you look at my other comment and see if you see an issue with the way I coded that?

You can present text stimuli on other stimuli, for example as shown here (instead of bitmap, I show rectangle, but the idea is the same).
task test keys b show rectangle 0 0 400 200 255 0 0 show text "Hello there" 0 0 255 255 0 readkey 1 9999 block test tasklist test 5 end
Note that the text is on top of the rectangle. The order of the stimuli matters. Each consecutive stimulus is drawn on the preceding ones.
Also note that draw off/on is rarely (if ever) needed and I would recommend to ignore it except for very special circumstances.
If you present stimuli one after another, draw off/on is done automatically. That is, in the example above, show rectangle and show text will be happening exactly at the same time.
