Is is possible to have the participant input Japanese when using readkeys? As far as I can see, entering text using the Japanese IME fails, as the roman alphabet is not converted to Japanese.

Sorry that it does not work. Can you say more about how Japanese is normally entered (is this similar to Chinese pinyin entry?). The latter is not possible.

I haven't used pinyin but I imagine it is the same. You use the roman alphabet for input and then select the desired character from the numerous possibilities by one of a number of means including pressing the space bar to choose from a pop up menu (it is a tiresome process!).

Thanks for the information, yes that looks like how Chinese input is done, and that is unfortunately not possible for readkeys in experiments.
