I have a code like this but how can I reach different questions for different subscales?
scale: ders - Almost never - Sometimes - About half the time - Most of the time - Almost always
l: ders q: Please read each statement and give your answer from almost never to almost always, which indicates how much the statement applied to you. t: scale ders I have difficulty making sense out of my feelings - I am confused about how I feel - question3 - question4 - question5 - question6 - question7
How can I get the sum for question1, 4, 7 for instance.
l: subscale1 t: set - sum $ders ?? Moreover, when I checked the data, it does not show-calculate the sum for whole scale either. It is empty/

This isn't something I've tried to generate in my code. I find it easy enough to download my data and create a new variable in SPSS (could probably do in Excel or R as well) to compute full scale and subscales.
