I'm trying to do an online survey in which participants are asked to choose the best answer while listening to the question.
I have two questions regarding the presentation of the stimuli:
(1) Creating the columns in a screen
(2) Making the words stay 'checked off'
As for the first question, I wonder how to slot multiple response alternatives into several columns in each trial, instead of presenting all words in a row. For example, every question has twelve words and the words can be classified as Category 1, Category 2, and Category 3. So what I want to do is to arrange the words of each category together within the same column so that participants can easily select a word corresponding to a particular category. Additionally, is it feasible to display the columns as rectangles like this?
Another question is about the manner in which the words from which the participants choose stay 'checked off'. Once a choice is selected for a particular trial (by pressing the appropriate button), that button should stay 'colored' so that when participants move to the next trial, they will see that they've already made that particular choice. Although each choice is "greyed out" (converted to a grey color or whatever), participants should be able to choose the word again. So, would it be possible to mark previous choices, allowing them to be reused?
