I have an experiment to create where I need to combine a questionnaire with a task using different animations (videos). I was wondering if it is possible to show a video only once, so that the participants cannot play it multiple times or go back to the link showing the video... and if so, what is the procedure to do it? Thank you !

Currently that is not possible. I might implement that, though.

Currently that is not possible. I might implement that, though. That should be great. I have the same problem! I need to show a video without participants being able to click on the player or to play the video twice or to view it on youtube external page.

Okay, thanks for letting me know that users really want this, then it bumps up the priority list...
I will have a look at this tomorrow.

Okay, thanks for letting me know that users really want this, then it bumps up the priority list... I will have a look at this tomorrow. Thank You very much! I really appreciate the work You have done and I hope that psytoolkit will be the most used tool for online studies. In fact by comparing it with other similar tools it is much more versatile and intuitive! Plus it has features that others have only limited or you have to pay for.
I think controlling this aspect of the videos is very important for researchers and will help make psytoolkit a better and preferable tool than the others!
But unfortunately if this video update is not released soon I will be forced to use another tool.
I hope You will be able to do that as soon as possible. Thank You very much for this valuable work.

Hi, Thank you for your kind words. Indeed, the project is free to use but it depends on user donations.
You can read more about that here:

Absolutely! I had already planned to donate in case I was able to use psytoolkit for my study. That's why I hope you can do the video update. Thank you again and all the best.

I am working on this, but it is not easy to program this quickly, so don't count on this working soon.
Maybe you can think of an alternative way to do this.

I was thinking about alternatives such as setting a time limit for the video page (which lasts as long as the video lasts) but the possibility remains for the participant to open the video in a new window.
The easiest condition that comes to my mind would be to allow the autoplay of the video and to lock the mouse so that you can't click on the video. Then the next page is displayed after the set time has expired and the mouse returns to work.

Hi, yes, with YouTube it is not ideal, I am planning a different solution. How quick I can work on this depends on a number of factors, so let's see how it goes. When there is a new improved video function, I will post it on the PsyToolkit Twitter feed, which I recommend all users to subscribe to: @psytoolkit (Twitter)

Currently that is not possible. I might implement that, though. Hey This option would be useful for us as well. I will be happy to know if you have decided to implement it? Thank you

Also is there a way to embed a video not through youtube? we would like to avoid the commercials a video suggestion so they will not distract the participants.
Thank you again!

I am working on a test version which should be ready for testing tomorrow. That way, you can stream videos through a plain (non-YouTube player).
I will set up some instructions, but basically, the idea is that you can put your video on your own server as a file (e.g., in webm or mp4 format) and then play through PsyToolkit.
